Sunday Blessings

Blessed weather that calls for sweaters, scarves, and thick socks.

Sometimes you just gotta snuggle up in a blanket and sip on a warm mug of cider.

In the midst of chaos, confusion, and a world where hurt is seemingly all that is visible, followers of Jesus are called to stand as children of the promise-for we walk by faith and not by sight. Lord, help us see the potential locked up inside every trial to bring hope, to teach wisdom, and to grow us stronger. Prayers for Nairobi today-that comfort comes, that healing of all sorts is experienced, and that wisdom is with all of the leaders as they decide how to move forward and respond to recent events.

Let's remember the blessing that even when people don't, God loves.

God has lead me to a small, precious church in Abilene that meets for fellowship and worship every Sunday evening followed by a communal dinner that allows for people to truly get to know one another and love each other in Jesus' name. There are so many aspects of Hope Church that I cherish, but I think my favorite is a simple characteristic: freedom. It is such a laid-back atmosphere. My favorite way this takes form is in the children, as the little ones are all over the place-standing in the chairs, sitting on the floor, or dancing around barefoot during the worship. Even new mothers spread out blankets on the floor sometimes to lay with their infants. It's beautiful, and it blesses me.
