Sensible Silliness

Dr. Seuss was the king of silliness. He wrote children's books that included crazy characters, situations, and words (most of which were made up!) that made us laugh, kept us entertained, and most of all inspired us all as we were children. How silly were his stories though? They actually contained quite a lot of sense when looked at closely, and all of them had that "and the moral of the story is..." ending. He was a man of many talents and an absolute magician at taking silliness and using it to make sense. This post is to remember his words of inspiration. As you read the following quotes, I hope that you can be entertained, are able to laugh at the silliness, and willingly listen to the sense.

"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind."

"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."

"I like nonsense. It wakes up the brain cells."

"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And you are the one who'll decide where to go."

"Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple."

"A person's a person, no matter how small."

"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go!"

"Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive that is you-er than you."
